PNCFL Statement of Inclusivity, Solidarity and Anti-discrimination

The Pacific Northwest Council for Languages (PNCFL), the oldest regional organization of world language teachers in the United States, has since 1949 advocated for the value of world languages as a core curriculum and has supported policies that reflect this ideal.

As educators who have dedicated our careers to teaching American youth about the importance of cultural and linguistic appreciation and understanding, it goes without saying that PNCFL does not have any tolerance for racism, discrimination, bigotry, hate, or violence.

PNCFL condemns all acts of prejudice, hate, and violence. We join ACTFL, NCSSFL, NADSFL and other regional, state, and language-specific organizations, standing in solidarity with our students, colleagues, and community members; Black, Indigenous and other People of Color, as well as the LGBTQ community against harassment, racism, discrimination, violence, and systemic inequality in the United States.
